Members Qualifications

 

The general qualifications for each class of General Membership are as follows:



  • Medical MRI Specialist (MRI Practitioner):
    Medical degree with postgraduate study in Medical Imaging MRI (2 years min) and/or equivalent experience (6 years min).

  • Medical Diagnostic MRI Scientist:
    Bachelor’s degree, and a post graduate master’s degree in MRI without clinical placements or supervised practice program in MRI.

  • Medical Diagnostic MRI Practitioner:

    1. Bachelor's degree, and a post graduate clinical master’s degree in MRI, that has no logbook managed clinical placements as part of the study, followed by 48 weeks of supervised practice program in an AMRIA accredited MRI centre;
    2. Bachelor's degree, and a post graduate clinical master's degree in MRI, that comprises a minimum of 10 MRI centric units, and a minimum of 24 weeks logbook managed clinical placements;
    3. Two years full time MRI clinical experience in a recognised Australian/New Zealand Medical Imaging service that has been offering MRI service for more than 5 years (public or private). Overseas qualifications will be assessed by the AMRIA Qualification Review committee.

  • Specialist MRI Practitioner:
    Human and Veterinary medicine related degree or equivalent with postgraduate study in MRI and/or experience in Medical Magnetic Resonance Imaging, deemed equivalent by the AMRIA Qualification Review Committee.

  • Academic and Research person involved with MRI technology.

  • Technical/ Engineering/ Management person:
    Bachelor’s degree, and/or specialised training in an institution so recognised by the Qualification Review committee, with specialised experience in the implementation, acquisition, safety, research, building, installation or maintenance of MRI units as recognised by the Qualification Review committee.

  • Medical Requestor:

    1. Medical Practitioners and equivalent specialities,
    2. Allied Health Practitioners with referrals limited to the field of speciality.
  • Student
    Bachelor’s Degree, and enrolled in a post graduate master's degree in MRI, with an AMRIA accredited academic institution.

  • Other person as deemed appropriate by the Board.
    Bachelor’s degree, and/or specialised experience recognised by the Qualification Review committee, regarding MRI technology.
